Up to $20,000 in Matching Government Grant

The Government of The Bahamas allotted $25 million for a period of 5 years ($5 million per year) to the Guaranteed Loan Programme.

The primary purpose of the funding is to guarantee (not disburse) loans approved under this programme with the aim to help entrepreneurs fund, launch and grow their businesses in a variety of industries.

Men in Business 2025

Our 2024 Men in Business survey showed most applicants came from key sectors like Food & Beverage, Tourism, and Technology. The 2025 initiative will support these entrepreneurs and advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals by strengthening their business skills, mindset, and personal development through targeted training and mentorship to build sustainable enterprises.

Women Entrepreneurs Initiative 2025

With the launch of the third and final cohort, the SBDC marks a shift from a narrative of overcoming to one of owning. The Women Entrepreneurs Initiative celebrates women who are already leading change—providing the space, tools, and recognition to match their ambition.

Young Entrepreneurs Academy

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy blends education, empowerment, and excitement—giving youth a strong foundation in entrepreneurship with support from mentors, peers, and partners. By investing in future founders today, we’re shaping tomorrow’s business leaders.

Crafting The Bahamas

Crafting the Bahamas is an empowerment and upskilling initiative designed to support Bahamian creative entrepreneurs, especially artisans and makers, by equipping them with the tools and training needed to thrive in today’s digital economy.

Fly Fishing Initiative

The Bahamas' fly fishing industry generated $169 million and 7,800 jobs in 2018, playing a crucial role in the eco-tourism sector. Recognizing the threats posed by climate change and habitat destruction, the SBDC is collaborating with the Bahamas Fly Fishing Industry Association, the Ministry of Agriculture & Marine Resources, and the Bahamas Agricultural & Industrial Corporation (BAIC) to promote sustainable practices and protect marine ecosystems.

 

 

Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Initiative

The Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Initiative is a collaboration between the Small Business Development Centre, Ministry of Social Services, the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities and the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture.

The Women Entrepreneurs Initiative was designed to help women throughout The Bahamas overcome the challenges of accessing capital, feeling respected as business owners and building an effective support system.

Young Entrepreneurs Initiative

In collaboration with partners such as the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Culture, Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI), University of The Bahamas (UB), as well as the John Templeton Foundation, the Small Business Development Centre (SBDC) launched the Young Entrepreneurs Initiative on December 13, 2023.

Food Security Initiative

Designed by the Small Business Development Centre in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources to help farmers and fishers in The Bahamas address the challenges of accessing capital, learning and implementing emerging and sustainable trends and engaging in commerce activities across The Bahamas and internationally.

The Renewable Energy Initiative
